GAROSU-GIL SHOPPING GUIDE (SEOUL)

SEOUL | Garosu-gil was for a long time on our bucket list during our multiple trips to Seoul. But due to a lack of time or other reasons, we seldom had the chance to properly explore the area until this time. And we were happy to discover a very lively area full of coffee shops, restaurants, art galleries and boutiques specializing in K-fashion. In general there’s plenty of stuff to do in Garosu-gil. So we do recommend that you give yourself enough time to explore the area. There’re many eating options so you’ll be able to refuel with some delicious Korean food if you need to. The easiest way to get to Garosu-gil is by taking the Subway to Sinsa Station and take exit number 8 (see location on Google maps). Walk the main road Dosan-daero until you reach Dosan-daero 13 gil; and turn left. This is the main road, and from there you may keep walking and exploring the different alleyways that make the Garosu-gil area. If you follow this route, one of the first spots you’ll hit is the not-to-be missed Simone Handbag Museum, located in the hand-bagged shaped BagStage Building. This is one of the world’s finest collections of this timeless accessory, displaying over 350 pieces. Also there’s a DIY workshop, a cozy coffee shop and an exclusive handbag shop. As you keep walking through Dosan-daero 13 gil, make sure that you don’t miss any of the small alleyways and courtyards hidden behind the main road. Some of them have exclusive boutiques and outlet stores catering very exclusive items. Vintage style is increasingly becoming a must-follow trend in South Korea. Over the years we’ve witnessed a growing number of vintage and second-hand stores in Seoul. With several branches, 9 Owls is one of favorite shops. So make sure to stop by as you walk down Dosan-daero 13 gil, on the right-hand side of the street. Right before you get to 9 Owls, you’ll find Kim’s Boutique. This increasingly popular store also has different branches in the city. And they specialize in designing affordable  high-quality garments and accessories with a vintage spin.
