ELECTRIC SEKKI SPRING SUMMER 16 PREVIEW

HONG KONG |Hong Kong has been wet and cloudy for quite a few days. But while the rain pours, why not brightening yourself up with some of the hottest Spring Summer 2016 fashion and trends from Asia and beyond? Electric Sekki put together a wonderful showroom in the spacious three storey art gallery Kong Gallery, at the hip SoHo district. Perfectly matching the wet weather; and proving that even under the worst climate days there’s always a reason to smile, the first floor recreated Hunter’s iconic festival journey. The legendary brand presented the ultimate festival journey, featuring the tools to survive whatever the climate throws at you. Keeping you always dry from the early highs of a sun-soaked main stage, to the after-hours downpour where adventure begins. Rainy boots in new colors, lightweight nylon fabrics, waterproof rubber and the ultimate Hunter sneakers evoked the colors of hazy summer sunsets. And if the sun happened to shine, you could always head to Dienastie's DJ Booth to grab a pair of bold sunglasses to mix and match with Hunter’s raincoats and rain boots. One floor up, Havaianas and Superga transported us to the lively mood of the sun of Italy and Brazil; and helped us forget about the rain a bit. Havaianas invited us to play like kids in a summery-beach-inspired playground. While Superga evoked our craftiest side with a leather engraving workshop. Interestingly, Superga’s latest collection includes a series of sneakers created by South Korean fashion and industrial designer Yong Bae Seok. Motivated by his multidisciplinary background, the patterns and textures of the shoes represent the interior of a car. The originality of the design brings a more futuristic and dynamic look to the traditional designs of Superga shoes. After all, according to the lunar calendar, Spring is just around the corner. So it’s time to start thinking about what new trends we’d like to add to our closet. Electric Sekki had it covered with a whole floor dedicated to the hottest fashion brands from Australia, New York and London: Minkpink, Paper London, Zoe Jordan, Sass & Bide, D.Efect, Cocurata, Antipodium, Camilla and Marc, Alice McCall, Chalayan, Tela and Ellery. If traveling up and down through these three worlds of trends and fashion made us hungry, we could always grab some creative finger food and cocktails at the Brickhouse pop-up, conveniently located inside the spacious lift. The watermelon spicy cubes were simply delicious. We were totally enchanted by some of the designers and creations at Electric Sekki 's SS16 preview, so keep coming because we'll be featuring them on Earth to Iris within the upcoming weeks.
