BARCELONA | This airy and spacious boutique in Barcelona houses a women’s wear brand that stands out for contemporary elegance, everyday effortless comfort and a blend of femininity. Fashion designer Silvia García Presas launched her brand in 2004. Through research and experimentation, García’s approach to fashion design is sensitive and refined, with an ethnic touch. She is deeply attracted by dancing and so she finds her inspiration in the ethereal beauty of dance aesthetic. Her designs depict alluring silhouettes for women with a strong personality. Someone who shares her vision and sensitivity. The collection consists of timeless pieces. Including basics in silk, hand made knitwear, fluid shapes and cozy coats. They are all locally manufactured combining fine craftsmanship and innovative techniques coupled with the finest fabrics: silk, cotton, wool, cashmere, alpaca and mohair, in earthy colors with endearing shades. In addition, García constantly produces capsule collections with some exclusive items. The Avant designs are showcased in a cool contemporary setting, which is very welcoming and relaxing at the same time. The first The Avant store and atelier opened in 2009, located in the heart of Barcelona’s Modernist quartier, at Enrique Granados St.; one of the most captivating streets in town. The beautifully designed space has the touch of Garcia-Presas’ universe. She conceived the Mediterranean atmosphere typical of a country house, with white walls and antique wooden shelves to boost the appeal of the garments and accessories. The Avant has a sister store, which opened recently in the trendy El Born district; the perfect scene for a label that blends tradition and new. The Avant counts with the Primitiu (Primitive) Corner, where to find artisan objects and accessories that the designer has sourced from travels around the world. Traveling is Garcia’s passion and one of her main sources of inspiration. Her selection includes scarves and shawls, jewelry, rugs and ceramics, cushions and excellent hand made soaps that complete the offer. When visiting the store, allow some extra time to walk alongside the street and discover amazing houses, art galleries and boutiques.
