Cultural influences on display included Japanese geisha and samurai, oriental prints featuring koi fish; and historical references to the 1700s and pop culture from1980s fashion. The SCAD Hong Kong Fashion Showcase highlights SCAD’s commitment to nurturing young design talent as Hong Kong further solidifies its position as a global fashion hub. The show was hosted in SCAD Hong Kong's magical building: The North Kowloon Magistracy located in the heart of Sham Shui Po district. The building (1960) was designed by Palmer and Turner Architects; and it used to be the magistrate’s court and offices until 2005. SCAD masterfully renovated the building by keeping it's heritage while turning it into a hub for creativity in one of Hong Kong's most enchanting neighborhoods. Photos courtesy of SCAD HONG KONG.
