This is how Leon founder of DDR Vintage, one of the pioneer vintage stores in Beijing, defines the vintage atmosphere in the Chinese capital. \u201c(In Beijing) there is no system about this industry yet. Most of the people don\u2019t know how to distinguish vintage items from second-hand or used clothing. All the old things are labelled as vintage. But it\u2019s normal, as we are just at the beginning\u201d. DDR Vintage was founded 6 years ago. In the past few years, the so-called vintage\/used-clothing stores \u00a0mushroomed in the most hipster areas of the city as vintage style becomes more popular among an emerging underground community. And according to him this is what makes DDR different from other vintage shops in Beijing.\r\n\r\nDDR is not just a vintage store. We welcome many different styles from 1890 to 1980; so one can find all sorts of vintage items in just one stop\u201d, he adds. Arguably most of DDR\u2019s regular costumers include fashion editors, artists, students, photographers, models, actors, stylists and also foreigners.\r\n\r\n<div class=\"nextgen_pro_blog_gallery\" China. He was enchanted by vintage style, dreaming that one day he might have the chance to run his own vintage store.\r\n\r\nHis first true encounter with vintage clothing happened when he was 18 years old in Tianjin: \u201cActually those stores were not so vintage, but more like second-hand clothing or used clothing form Japan or Korea. Their clothes were very dirty, in big sizes, and even some of them belonged to deceased people\u201d. Leon fell in love with the cool designs, the lovely colors, good quality and cheap prices of most of these items; and since then he seldom buys any new clothing.
